The question was, can Arsenal show quality against Manchester city at the Etihad? Man City are missing a few key players but even then, their bench players are as good as their starting and given their style of play you hardly notice the absence of their starting players. Can Arsenal emerge as winners against City.
First Half
The first ten minutes not much to witness both sides are looking solid, a few mistakes from Arsenal players such as the foul committed by Gabriel Jesus on Silva. Saka looked Locked by Gvadiol he could hardly dribble past him. Akanji and Gabriel Jesus going head to head on the left wing. Declan Rice and Rodri were colliding in the middle of the park so often. Nathaniel Ake was another significant loss to man city squad as he came off at the 26th minute, replaced by Rico Lewis .Arsenal’s Saka and Gabriel Jesus were not really affecting the game in the first 30 minutes nor did Odegard have a chance to control and influence the game in Arsenal’ favor, though Gabriel Jesus had a shot off target it was the first shot for Arsenal. One thing I have to give to Arsenal was their defense they made Halland disappear in the first half.
Second Half
The second half, started very different. Arsenal looking like they want to score the first goal, every time City loses the ball. They looked so fearless of City, it’s so good to see city under pressure struggling to structure something meaningful out of their attack. Arsenal’s defense was absolutely on another level.
Overall, it was just a draw, settling for a point each. Arsenal dropping to second place as city stay third in the EPL standing. One of the most anticipated games of the Premier League ended in a drama-less draw. Liverpool can Enjoy Being at the top for now with 9 games to go.
